Harvest of Quilts is coming up Fast!

Even if you do not quilt, there is so much talent to appreciate by those who have created these works of art. Quilts will be on display at various locations downtown, and this year’s featured artist, Jane Penn, will have her masterful collection of quilted creations on display at the Methodist Church.

Be sure to check out the “Harvest of Quilts” page on this website (under the Main Street heading). Have a quilt that has been handed down? The sidebar of that page lets you request an appraisal!

We had 29 entrants this year with a total of 43 vehicles and walking groups.Biggest Giver of the Toy Drive– Valley View Baptist Church (This group totally ROCKED this new award category by bringing 4 large boxes of toys and games.  These toys go to the Psi Otes Christmas Basket Project).Best Motorized– Bill Shock (1926 Model TT Ford Fire Truck)Best Description of the Theme– Girl Scout Troops #109 (How the Grinch Stole Christmas)Best Float– New Hope Community Church (with a gingerbread house and candy canes)

Best Walking Group– Carroll HS Marching Band with Color Guard (performing Christmas Time is Here with Linus & Lucy from a Charlie Brown Christmas)-I didn’t get a good picture of their group.

Most Entertaining– Fringe (Peanuts and Gang Charlie Brown Christmas)

I would like to thank the Flora Police Department, Bryan Appleton, Teresa Appleton, Josh & Melissa Ayres, Kaylyn Cox, Michelle Cox, Lana McIntosh, and Morgan Thompson for all of their help during and leading up to the parade.  We would like to thank Mann Chevrolet for graciously providing two trucks for parade entrants again this year.  We would also like to thank our announcer Dave Miller of Rinehart Realtors & Auctioneers, Greg Michael Auctioneer for the judging booth, and our judges Jane Brewington, Laurie Brower, and Amy Chapman.
