Flora Main Street

In 2013, Flora became an Indiana Main Street community.  Administered by the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs, the program is designed to provide economic revitalization and professional assistance and encourage the restoration of downtown areas in Indiana cities and towns.
Flora Main Street is chartered by the Indiana Main Street Program under the umbrella of the Flora Community Club, Inc., a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation.

The Flora Main Street Committee is the Steering Committee for the Club’s participation in Indiana Main Street. This Committee will coordinate the administrative aspects of the “Main Street” project, including budget development, purchasing, grant writing, fund raising, and record keeping. This Committee will oversee three subcommittees directly related to Flora Main Street and will keep the Board of Directors informed on the activities of the Flora Main Street sub-committees:
Design Committee
Economic Restructuring Committee
Promotion Committee

Since its inception, Flora Main Street has made a difference in the community through its numerous projects and programs, such as:

  • Hanging flower baskets in the downtown.
  • Parking Lot Beautification Project.
  • Paint the Town Red Ladies’ Night Out.
  • Harvest of Quilts.
  • Pop-Up Gallery Project, endorsed as a Bicentennial Project
    by the Indiana Bicentennial Commission.
  • Flora Lip Dub, now on Youtube.
  • Establishment of the Farmers Market of Carroll County in downtown Flora.
  • Downtown Enhancement Grant for Facade Improvement.
